Overview

The self-directed City of Hope/VA Cancer Genomics in Practice course is designed to help clinicians involved in oncology care across the VA system develop a foundation of knowledge and skills needed to bring the latest in genomically-informed care to their patients. Learn from cancer genomics experts from City of Hope and distinguished institutions across the nation to translate rapid genomics advances into clinical genetic cancer risk assessment, precision treatment, management, and preventative care.

Who should participate in this program?

  • VA healthcare professionals (Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, Genetic Counselors, Pharmacists) involved in oncology care seeking cancer genomics education skills development and ongoing support for their practice.

Course objectives

At the conclusion of the Cancer Genomics in Practice, participants will be able to:

  • Acquire a foundation of knowledge about germline and somatic testing in oncology practice
  • Develop proficiency and confidence to order and interpret tumor and germline tests
  • Identify, refer and/or manage patients with hereditary predisposition to cancer
  • Increase awareness and use of cancer genomics resources in the VA system
  • Identify patients who may be eligible for targeted cancer therapeutics
  • Support your clinical practice with evidence-based genetic cancer risk assessment skills

Course Format

  • Virtual, self-directed curriculum can be completed within a 12-month period starting January 15, 2024, and ending January 14, 2025.
  • View recorded learning modules from our expert faculty - 10 topic-domain bundles, 3-4 modules per bundle
  • Attend live or recorded case-based Webinars to reinforce learning and share in practical application of cancer genomics in clinical practice
  • Test your knowledge by completing quizzes, case-based assignments, and tests

Credits & Certificate

CME credits and course completion certificate awarded to participants who successfully complete the course on or before 11:59 pm January 14, 2025. For more accreditation information, click the "Accreditation" button on the right-hand side of the page.
